Steelers Re-Sign Veteran Offensive Lineman

The Steelers retained the services of one of their unrestricted free agents today when they re-signed offensive tackle Barrett Brooks to a one-year contract.  Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Brooks will enter his 11th season in 2005 after originally signing with the Steelers on Oct. 22, 2003.  Brooks played in five games with the Steelers as a backup lineman in 2004.   He has played in 102 games and made 62 starts during his career after originally being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 1995 NFL Draft.  In addition to the Steelers and the Eagles (1995-98), Brooks has also played for the Detroit Lions (1999-00) and Green Bay Packers (2002) during his NFL career.

Brooks is the second unrestricted free agent to re-sign with the Steelers this offseason, joining cornerback Willie Williams. The team also signed former San Francisco 49ers unrestricted free agent wide receiver Cedrick Wilson to a contract on March 8.
